WHO WE ARE

Gary Heydens – Program Director

Gary Heydens is an account executive at McKee Foods Corporate, makers of Little Debbie snacks, as well as having served on the Flower City Outreach Board of Directors since 2015.  He originated the idea for Link Youth Mentorship and spearheaded its launch in 2022.  Gary and his wife, Joanne, have three grown daughters and four grandchildren, live in Penfield, NY and worship at Calvary Assembly of God where he also serves as an Elder.

Pastor Warren E. Meeks, Jr. – Ministry Youth Coordinator

Pastor Warren E. Meeks, Jr. serves as the Executive Director of Rochester Family Mission, serves on staff at Victorious Living Church and is an active community leader in Rochester, NY.  He is currently completing a degree in Business Administration through Roberts Wesleyan University.  Warren lives with his wife Sara and 4 children in West Henrietta and worships at Victorious Living Church.

Matthew Terry – Ministry Team Leader

Matthew Terry works as a Senior Sales Representative at Graybar Electric and previously served as a mentor in 2003 with C.O.P.E. which served children with parents in prison.  After realizing the incredible struggles and challenges children without fathers in their life face, he continues to feel God’s calling as a mentor for young people.  Matthew and his wife have one daughter, live in Chili, NY and worship at Calvary Assembly of God where he also serves as an Elder.

Joanne Heydens – Match Coordinator

Joanne Heydens is a control analyst at Avangrid Inc., an operating company of gas and electric utilities.  Joanne is a past Ministry Director of Flower City Work Camp, a ministry of Flower City Outreach.  Joanne has been married to her best friend, Gary, for over 36 years.  They have three grown daughters and four grandchildren.  Joanne and Gary make their home in Penfield, NY and worship at Calvary Assembly of God Church where they serve as Elders.

Jennifer Hinkley – Match Specialist

Jennifer Hinkley has taught public-school since 2016 and has a passion for serving children.  She especially enjoys helping young boys find mentors who will invest in them spirituality, emotionally, physically, and socially.  She fully supports the mission of Link and has seen the many positive benefits this program has to offer, both in the lives of the the mentors and mentees.  Jennifer lives in Chili, New York with her husband and worships at Calvary Assembly of God where she also serves in children’s ministry and weekly Bible studies.

Alyssa Bruno – Match Specialist

Alyssa Bruno is a Registered Nurse for Rochester Regional Health with a primary focus in Women’s Health for the last 12 years.  Alyssa served in the past as the the Westside Lunch Coordinator for Flower City Work Camp, ensuring all sites received a hearty meal.  She is inspired by the mentors and mentees of LINK and their dedication to form meaningful relationships while keeping Christ at the center.  She lives in Penfield with her husband Mike and two children, and they worship at Calvary Assembly in Chili where she has served in the infant room.

Mike McOrmond – FCO Executive Director

Mike McOrmond founded Flower City Work Camp (FCWC) in 1985 and led it in the early years before moving on to other ministry opportunities.  He later rejoined the organization as a charter member of the Flower City Outreach Board of Directors when the organization incorporated in 2015.  He served as the Board Chairman for three years before stepping into the paid professional role of Executive Director in 2020.  Mike has been ministering for the past 40 plus years in the region in both pastoral and traditional marketplace roles.  He is married to his college sweetheart, Tammy, whom he met at Houghton College and they are blessed with seven children, one daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.  All seven children of their children have attended FCWC as campers.  He resides in Penfield, NY with his wife and worships at Grace Road Church.

Link Youth Mentorship is led by a committee of volunteer leaders who originally founded the ministry in 2020. As a ministry of Flower City Outreach (FCO), Link Youth Mentorship is governed by the FCO Board of Directors who provides oversight, governance, and administrative leadership for each of its ministries.
